Digital labeling of medicines allows for the efficient use of budget funds, improving the availability of medicines for patients
The introduction of digital labeling and a traceability system for medicines has become an important stage in reforming the drug supply system in Kazakhstan. This solution brings tangible benefits to both the state and patients.
With the help of digital labeling, a unique Data Matrix code is applied to each package of a medicine, which allows tracking the entire life cycle of a medicine from production to delivery to medical organizations and to its issuance to patients.
“Today, SK-Pharmaceuticals employees, using information solutions, can already see the number of shipped and accepted marked medicines in medical organizations,” noted Chairman of the Board Erken Zhakatai.
Today, more than 11 million items of medicines purchased by the Single Distributor have been labeled, of which over 2 million are imported and over 9 million are domestic. At the moment, more than 10 million marked medicines have been shipped and accepted in the regions, which emphasizes the scale and effectiveness of the system.
"Along with this, digital labeling and traceability of medicines contribute to rational planning of procurement of necessary medicines. For the state, this means more efficient use of budget funds, and for patients - improved availability of medicines and stability of their supply," added Yerken Zhakatai.
